Devil's Lake, May 6-8th 2005

This trip turned out great!! Despite the forecasted 80% chance of thunderstorms on Saturday, we only had about an hour and a half of slow rain, which scared most other climbers away. The rest of the day was partly cloudy. Sunday was even better with lots of sun.

On Saturday we climbed at the Pedestal Wall (East Rampart, top of CCC trail). On Sunday we headed to the Balanced Rock wall.

Trip info

Weekend climbing/hiking/biking trip to Devil's Lake. If you want to climb, absolutely no previous experience is required. We will belay/teach belaying and will set up the ropes.

We will be carpoling. The plan is to leave on Friday after classes and come back Sunday night (some of the cars might be leaving earlier/later). We will be camping at one of the campgrounds near Devil's Lake.

The club will provide camping and climbing gear.

Unfortunately mountain biking trails are still closed. Canoe rentals are available in the park.

Rain date: May 13-15th.

Costs

Camping is at most $6 per person per night depending on where we stay. Every car will have to pay $10/day for parking (cheaper for WI residents). The gas is about $15-20 per car each way. Everyone needs to pay $10 yearly OAC membership dues. So, assuming that you are already a member, the total cost will be around $30 (not counting food).
